LiDAR Systems Specialist responsible for developing and deploying 3D scanning and data solutions for mining operations.
Our client is seeking a hands‑on LiDAR Systems Specialist responsible for developing and deploying 3D scanning and data solutions for mining operations.
This is a hybrid role based in Saskatoon that requires 3 days onsite. One year contract with the strong possibility of extension.
Must haves:
- Hands‑on LiDAR / 3D scanning experience — experience working directly with LiDAR systems and point‑cloud data.
- Strong software development experience — hands‑on programming experience, ideally with Python and/or C++.
- 3D data processing experience — experience with point‑cloud processing, registration, calibration, 3D mapping, reconstruction, or related spatial/3D data applications.
- Hands‑on field deployment experience — experience taking technology from development into a real‑world environment, including installation, configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting, or ongoing support.
Nice to have:
- SLAM / LiDAR-inertial SLAM
- Robotics or computer vision
- Multi‑sensor systems
- Volumetric measurement / inventory applications
- Mining, underground mining, or other industrial environments
- Sensor fusion / wheel odometry
- ROS/ROS2, Open3D, PCL or similar
- Industrial integrations such as SCADA, historians, survey, mine planning or ERP
- Experience designing physical mounts, enclosures, power or ruggedized field systems
What You Will Do
- Build and deploy LiDAR and 3D scanning systems used in mining operations, from sensor setup and calibration through data processing and visualization.
- Develop software that turns LiDAR and point‑cloud data into actionable 3D information, including mapping, reconstruction, and volumetric measurement.
- Build the data pipelines and web‑based tools that make 3D scanning results accessible to operations and engineering teams.
- Take systems into the field — install, commission, calibrate, troubleshoot, and improve them at operating sites, including underground environments.
- Work closely with mining operations, engineering, survey, automation, and IT/OT teams to turn creative 3D scanning technology into reliable operational solutions.
