Job OverviewThe Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto Airport & Conference Centre is a 433 premium‑guestroom hotel with 60,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, a full‑service Starbucks and four additional dining venues located near Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.Position SummaryThe hotel mechanic provides maintenance repairs and services for the operation of the building and equipment in accordance with standards set by the Director of Engineering, Assistant Director of Engineering and Maintenance Manager.Key ResponsibilitiesProvides professional and welcoming levels of service to all guests; utilizing empowerment steps to exceed guest expectations.Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations.Adheres to hotel health and safety policies.Uses proper protective equipment and clothing and takes necessary precautions to avoid injury.Partners with front office during emergency procedures (e.G., fire alarm, evacuations, loss prevention).Participates in testing of fire prevention equipment as directed by the Chief Engineer.Performs maintenance repairs to guest rooms, public areas, administrative and back‑of‑house areas. Repairs include painting touch‑ups, wall covering, drywall repairs, small repairs to furnishings and fixtures, lighting, plumbing, small electrical work, heating and cooling components, caulking jobs in bathrooms and kitchen, replacement or repair of damaged tiles, wood flooring and carpet, carpentry and related tasks, repair or replacement of door locks and hardware, building cabinets, wall partitions, and suspended ceilings.Performs various duties of a groundskeeper when required.Troubleshoots,
diagnoses or repairs defective equipment and components.Maintains thermal comfort in meeting rooms at all times and controls the schedule of available systems through building automation.Maintains the swimming pool and Jacuzzi in good operational order as per Public Health guidelines and departmental directives, including chemical level maintenance, logbook entries, safety systems and regular cleaning.QualificationsPrevious hotel maintenance mechanic experience required.Ability to work a versatile schedule based on operational needs, including day, afternoon, and midnight shifts.Ability to repair defective elements of interior and exterior surfaces and components.Efficient and working knowledge of wall covering, painting, and decorating.Must be comfortable using a mobile phone to respond to maintenance requests received through the hotel’s communication portal.Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.Employment InformationPosition: Full‑time MechanicJob Type: Full‑time, PermanentPay: $28.61 – $29.61 per hourBenefitsCompany eventsCompany pensionDental careDisability insuranceExtended health careLife insuranceOn‑site parkingPaid time offVision careExperience & Shift RequirementsExperience: 3 years in hotel maintenance (required)Shift Requirements: Day, afternoon and midnight shifts – full time availability required.
