About the Company Forge Recruitment is working with a well-established, full-service law firm in downtown Toronto on their search for a Litigation Legal Assistant to join its Construction Law practice.
About the Role Prepare and draft a variety of legal correspondence and documentation, ensuring all materials are accurate, professionally formatted, and completed in accordance with firm standards.
Conduct conflict searches and manage the electronic opening and closing of files, including maintaining accurate matter and client lists and ensuring iManage records are organized and up to date.
Support lawyers with the preparation and organization of court records, hearing materials, and briefs, including hyperlinking relevant cases and supporting documentation.
Coordinate the service and filing of legal documents, providing instructions to process servers and filing agents and ensuring materials are filed with the appropriate courts and tribunals.
Monitor and maintain limitation dates, deadlines, appointments, and other critical timelines to ensure procedural requirements are met.
Enter and maintain lawyer dockets and time entries within the firm''s accounting system (3E).
Maintain and update client contact information within Inter
Action and collaborate with the Marketing and Business Development team when required.
The Offer Competitive compensation in the range of $60,000 to $80,000,
commensurate with experience Hybrid work environment Stable and supportive team structure within an established litigation practice Opportunity to work on sophisticated municipal and planning matters Collegial and skilled firm culture focused on collaboration and client service What You Bring 6+ years of relevant litigation experience; previous exposure to Construction Law Post-secondary education in Legal Administration, including a Legal Assistant Diploma and/or Law Clerk Certificate.
Working knowledge of scheduling and filing procedures for the Toronto and Ontario courts, as well as experience with Case
Lines, is considered an asset.
Proficiency with PDF applications such as Kofax Power PDF and Adobe, as well as ACL (Automated Civil Litigation), including the preparation of Ontario court forms and litigation-related documentation.
Excellent organizational, time management, prioritization, and deadline-management skills.
Exceptional attention to detail with strong proofreading and quality-control abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
Dedicated to delivering high-quality work and providing responsive, professional service to lawyers, clients, and the courts.
Demonstrates sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
