Riggers (Tower & Column Mechanical Maintenance Specialists) - 2-Week Contract Location: Fort McMurray, AB (Camp Job / Fly-in, Fly-out) Compensation: $32/hour + plenty of overtime Job Description We are currently seeking 6 dedicated Riggers for a fast-paced, 2-week fly-in/fly-out camp position based in Fort McMurray, AB.

In this critical hands-on role, you will perform the installation, modification, inspection, and turnaround maintenance of mass transfer equipment inside distillation, absorption, and extraction towers.

Working within confined spaces and elevated environments, you will ensure that internal componentssuch as trays, structured packing, and distributorsare installed and maintained strictly to engineering specifications.

Shift Flexibility: Choose the schedule that works best for your lifelock in a Day or Night rotation (3 positions available on Days, 3 positions available on Nights).

Travel: Opportunity for heavy travel (up to 75%+) to customer sites across regional or international locations.

Responsibilities Turnaround & Shutdown Execution: Perform rapid-response maintenance, dismantling, repair, and reassembly of tower internals during planned or emergency refinery turnarounds.

Internal Component Servicing: Remove, inspect, clean, and re-install distillation trays (sieve, valve, bubble cap), random/structured packing, liquid distributors, and support grids.





Mechanical Fabrication & Fit-Up: Fit, bolt, weld, and align internal tower components using precision hand tools, torque wrenches, and pneumatic equipment while interpreting complex engineering layout drawings.

Confined Space Operations: Work safely inside vertical vessels, columns, and towers under hazardous conditions, adhering strictly to permit-to-work, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and breathing apparatus protocols.

Quality & Technical Inspection: Verify levelness, clearances, and tolerances of tray decks and liquid distribution systems to guarantee process efficiency.

Report structural defects or severe corrosion to field supervisors.

Qualifications Experience: 35+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in petrochemical plants or refineries, with a focus on vessel internals or column turnarounds.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical trade certification or apprenticeship (Millwright, Boilermaker, Pipefitter) is strongly preferred.

Certifications: Valid OSHA 10/30 (or regional equivalent), Confined Space Entry & Rescue certification, and Rigging/Signalperson qualification.

Technical Skills: High proficiency in reading engineering blueprints, vessel drawings, and isometric schematics.

Physical Demands: Must be able to work at extreme heights (scaffolding/rope access) and within tight confined spaces.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, perform strenuous physical labor in varying weather conditions, and comfortably wear full-face respirators.
