Job purpose: The Intermediate Accountantassumes a pivotal role within our accounting department, taking on increased responsibilities in financial accounting and reporting processes.
With a focus onoptimizingefficiency and accuracy, this position contributes to the development and implementation of accounting strategies and initiatives to support the company''s growth trajectory.
Duties and responsibilities: Coordinate with
Accounts Payableclerk, including verifyingaccuracyof vendor invoices and employee expenses.
Prepareand filesales taxand GSTreturnfor Canada.
Prepare biweekly cash flow reports tomonitorcash on hand,assistin the projection ofcash inflows andoutflowsandproposetransfers to address cash demands.
Assist
Accounts Receivable activities, includingclient onboarding,reviewing ofcontracts and clientinvoicing,and managing outstanding balances.
Coordinate month-end closing procedures, preparing journal entries,reconciliations,costallocationsand accruals for various accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Analyze financial data and provide insights to stakeholders,identifyingtrends, variances, and areas for improvement.
Supportduring external audits,assistingwithrequestsand providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within the accounting function,leveragingtechnologyand AIto enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Support members of the accounting teamand provide guidance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects and initiatives,leveragingfinancialexpertiseto achieve organizationalobjectives.
Assistwith preparing Budget Vs Actual reporting.
Qualifications, Abilities, and Skills Required: Education: Bachelors degree in accounting or financerequired.
Experience: 3-5 years of progressive experience in professional accounting roles.
Key Competencies and Skills: Proficiencyin accounting principles and financial reporting requirements, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data andprovideactionable insights.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues and implement solutions proactively.
Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a drive for continuous improvement and excellence.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively.
Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and experience with accounting software.
Netsuiteexperience is an asset.
Knowledge of US GAAP principles preferred.
