What You Would Do in This RoleSenior Heat Exchanger and HTRI Mechanical Engineer participates in the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion. Duties include:Developing the process design for a project or proposal consisting of a normal process unitProviding comprehensive engineering and design services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, design computations, drawings, models and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirementsParticipating in the design of component parts and individual unitsExercising cost/budget control, and reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specificationsReviewing and maintaining project schedules, and tracking engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project managementSupervising the various activities involved in the design of a project consisting of several complex process unitsPerforming detailed calculationsParticipating in design reviews and HAZOPs as requiredProviding technical guidance to junior staffInterfacing with client representativesMaintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standardsReviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirementsApplying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to complex engineering tasksAdhering to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)Ensuring design is in accordance with applicable codes and requirements,
including Vista and client specifications and standardsAssigning and outlining work for others, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacyActively stewarding change management as related to their scopes of workPreparing or assisting in the preparation of discipline inputs for cost estimates for proposalsProviding construction supportAuthenticating documentation with a skilled engineering stamp as requiredApplying broad working knowledge of most types of equipment with specialized knowledge of one or more equipment typesPreparing and reviewing equipment specifications and datasheets for complex equipment and packagesPreparing material requisitions and technical bid evaluations for complex equipment and packagesPreparing and reviewing equipment listsProviding fabrication/technical support to vendors for complex equipment and packagesReviewing equipment drawings, P&IDs;, and general arrangement drawings from a mechanical standpointPreparing and reviewing engineering work packagesPreparing and reviewing designs and specifications for mechanical systems and materialsContributing and reviewing technical selection,
sizing and evaluation of equipmentPerforming other duties as requiredRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering or applied scienceTen (10) or more years of thermal analysis, selection and sizing of shell-and-tube heat exchangers and air coolers by using HTRI in the energy industryTen (10) or more years of mechanical design of heat exchangers, air coolers and pressure vesselsStrong working knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and industry standards including ASME VIII div 1 & div 2, CSA B51, API 660, API 661, TEMA, ABSA regulations etcHands‑on experience in utilizing the software of HTRI, HTFS, Compress, PV Elite, NozzleProExtensive experience in development and peer review of mechanical datasheets, TBC, TBE, MRQ & MRP, vendor documents review of heat exchangers and air coolersAbility to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnelP.ENG registration with APEGAProficiency with Microsoft Word and ExcelStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detailSelf‑motivated and efficient in time managementAbility to meet safety requirements to attend site visitsPreferred QualificationsTen (10) or more years of thermal analysis, selection and sizing of shell-and-tube heat exchangers and air coolers by using HTRI in the energy industry#J-18808-Ljbffr
