Help Advance Climate Action in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area

The Atmospheric Fund ( ) is seeking new members for its Grants and Programs Committee.

This committee plays an important role in advancing climate action across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area by reviewing funding proposals, making recommendations on funding for grants and programs that help reduce carbon emissions and support healthy, resilient communities, and providing staff with insights regarding trends, needs and opportunities for supporting climate action.

About TAF

TAF is a regional climate agency that invests in low-carbon solutions for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and helps scale them up for broad implementation. We are experienced leaders and collaborate with stakeholders in the private, public and non-profit sectors who have ideas and opportunities for reducing carbon emissions. We advance the most promising concepts by investing, providing grants, influencing policies and running programs. We're particularly interested in ideas that offer benefits beyond carbon reduction such as improving people's health, creating new jobs, boosting urban resiliency, and contributing to a fairer society. TAF is a proud member of the .

For the GTHA to be carbon neutral by 2050, much needs to be done, and quickly. TAF is focused on enabling the acceleration and scale-up of low-carbon solutions to reach that goal.

About the Grants and Programs Committee

The is a standing committee appointed by TAF's Board of Directors. The committee supports the Board by:

Reviewing grant and program funding proposals

Making recommendations on funding approvals and conditions

Providing strategic advice on grants and program priorities and opportunities

Supporting oversight of funded activities

Providing input to support effective program implementation

An opportunity to contribute to climate solutions





We're looking for several new members to join the Grants and Programs Committee for terms beginning in 2027.

We're particularly interested in individuals with expertise in climate solutions and experience designing, funding, implementing, or scaling impactful initiatives. We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds and experiences, including those with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Electric vehicles, public and active transportation

Electricity sector decarbonization

Buildings, energy efficiency, and retrofits

Market transformation and scaling solutions

Program design, delivery, and evaluation

Grantmaking and strategic funding

Finance, investment, and capital mobilization

Community engagement, community benefits, social equity, and social innovation

No one candidate is expected to bring expertise in every area. Strong committees are built on diverse perspectives and expertise, and we welcome applicants who can contribute both.

Members join a thoughtful and collaborative group of leaders and experts from across the climate sector and related fields. The committee offers a unique prospect to contribute to meaningful climate action while learning from and connecting with peers who bring a wide range of experiences and perspectives.

Time Commitment

The committee meets three times per year, with meetings typically lasting about three hours. Meetings are hybrid, and members are encouraged to attend in person if feasible.



Meetings are scheduled on weekdays during business hours.

Committee members should expect to spend time reviewing meeting materials in advance. Package length varies depending on the agenda and funding proposals under consideration, and preparation time may range from a few hours to more significant review for some meetings. TAF staff prepare and distribute meeting materials, manage the grant review process, facilitate meetings, and are available support committee members as needed.

Your responses to these questions will be reviewed without identifying information so that reviewers can focus on your interests, experience, and perspectives. You'll also be asked a few brief administrative questions and will have the option to complete a confidential demographic survey, which is collected separately from applications and not shared with reviewers.

We encourage you to answer the questions in your own words. We're interested in hearing about your experience and perspective, not a perfect application.

Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2026. We will begin a rolling review of applications on September 21, 2026, and encourage interested candidates to apply early.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to meet with senior TAF staff and the Committee Chair. Recommendations for appointment by to TAF's Board of Directors will be presented at the November 3, 2026 meeting; names are kept confidential until appointed. All applicants will be notified once the recruitment process is complete.
