We are looking for a Financial Reporting Consultant to join a contract opportunity for our client based in Vancouver, British Columbia. This role will support timely and accurate financial reporting, strengthen month-end and quarter-end close activities, and deliver meaningful reporting for management and investors. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, public practice audit experience, and the ability to improve reporting processes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Produce quarterly standalone financial statements along with reporting packages for leadership and investors, with a focus on shortening reporting timelines.
- Manage month-end and quarter-end close activities to ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial results.
- Create and refine revenue and inventory reporting that aligns with operational needs and makes effective use of NetSuite functionality.
- Establish and enhance closing procedures to improve consistency, efficiency, and overall reporting quality.
- Partner with the NetSuite consultant to design helpful reports and maintain clear supporting documentation for reporting processes.
- Assemble year-end audit support files and working papers to facilitate a smooth external audit process.
- Perform variance analysis to explain financial results and highlight key business trends.
- Contribute to special projects and other financial reporting initiatives as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in financial reporting, audit, or a related accounting function.
- Background in public practice audit, ideally gained with a Big Four or established mid-sized firm.
- Hands-on experience preparing financial statements and supporting working paper files under IFRS.
- Strong knowledge of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Familiarity with external audit requirements, audited financial statements, and audit support documentation.
- Experience with NetSuite, whether in industry or through public practice exposure, is considered an asset.
- Exposure to inventory and revenue accounting is preferred.
- Detail-oriented, collaborative, and adaptable approach with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
