MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN Industrial Equipment Technician | Position Profile PRIMARY PURPOSE Keep production equipment safe, reliable, food-secure, and running efficiently through troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement. MAINTENANCE PRIORITY HIERARCHY 1.

Food Safety: Eliminate contamination risks, damaged food-contact parts, leaking seals, loose hardware, improper temporary repairs, and other conditions that could compromise product safety. 2.

Equipment / Employee Safety: Identify and correct issues involving guards, interlocks, bearings, electrical or mechanical hazards, and other unsafe equipment conditions. 3.

Equipment Reliability & Efficiency: Reduce downtime, correct recurring failures, improve equipment performance, and complete mechanical adjustments needed to maintain consistent production. 4.

Preventive Maintenance: Complete scheduled inspections, lubrication, wear-part replacement, equipment-condition checks, and accurate documentation of maintenance findings. 5.

Continuous Improvement / Projects: Support equipment upgrades, stronger component designs, guarding improvements, changeover improvements, fabrication, and reliability-focused projects. EQUIPMENT ENVIRONMENT The technician should be comfortable troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment including:



Mixers and blending equipment Conveyors and material-handling systems Ovens and baking equipment Pumps and depositors Packaging equipment Gearboxes and motors Pneumatic systems Stainless-steel food-processing equipment PREFERRED MECHANICAL & TECHNICAL SKILLS Bearings, shafts, sprockets, chains, belts, and mechanical power-transmission components Gearboxes and electric motors Pneumatics and basic hydraulics Pumps and mechanical seals Conveyor systems Stainless-steel food equipment Welding and fabrication Troubleshooting recurring mechanical failures and identifying root causes Preventive maintenance procedures and equipment inspections Reading equipment manuals, schematics, and mechanical drawings Basic electrical troubleshooting Sensors, switches, and motors Lockout/tagout (LOTO) Food-manufacturing sanitation, GMP, and hygienic repair requirements WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE Equipment is repaired correctly and returned to service safely and efficiently.

Recurring failures are investigated to determine root cause rather than repeatedly replacing the same part.

Food-safety and employee-safety risks are identified and escalated immediately.

Preventive maintenance work is completed consistently and documented accurately.

Equipment condition, required parts, and outstanding maintenance needs are clearly communicated.

The technician contributes ideas that improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and production efficiency.
