Job Title: Project Control Officer (PCO) Intermediate Location: Montreal, Qc 3 days/week on-site 2 days/week Remote Job Type: 6-month renewable contract Experience Level: Intermediate (35 years) Reports To: PMO Director / Senior Project Manager Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Intermediate Project Control Officer (PCO) to join our Project Management Office (PMO).
In this role, you will serve as member of the project management team and support project managers by helping define the project''s scope, defining the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure), creating a schedule, tracking project health, managing financials, and ensuring strict adherence to project governance frameworks.
You will work closely with Project Managers and IT Resource Managers to optimize resource allocation, flag delivery risks, and maintain accurate project documentation.
The ideal candidate possesses excellent organizational skills, communication skills, the ability to help resolve issues and eliminate roadblocks, a willingness to work with a team to achieve the project''s gools and a proven track record of supporting mid-to-large-scale corporate projects.
Key Responsibilities Schedule & Milestone Tracking: Build and maintain project plans, monitor critical path milestones, track resource allocations, and ensure project management tools are updated.
Governance & Compliance: Enforce PMO standards, ensure project artifacts comply with organizational frameworks, and coordinate formal project gate reviews.
Risk & Issue Management: Facilitate risk-assessment sessions, maintain the project Risk, Action,
Issue, and Decision (RAID) log, and escalate critical items.
Financial Management: Track project budgets, forecast monthly spend, process vendor invoices, variance analyze financial data, and flag budget overruns to leadership.
Reporting & Documentation: Consolidate status updates to generate weekly and monthly PMO dashboards, draft meeting minutes, and maintain central project repositories.
Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a central point of contact between cross-functional teams, external vendors, and PMO leadership to streamline communication.
Qualifications & Skills Experience: 3 to 5 years of dedicated experience working as a PCO or Project Coordinator within a formal PMO workplace.
Education: Bachelor''s degree (or equivalent work experience) in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management tools like MS Project, Jira, Confluence.
Advanced experience in usage of Microsoft suite.
Knowledge with collaboration tools like Teams, Share
Point Methodologies: Strong working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and traditional Waterfall project management methodologies.
Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational habits, sharp analytical thinking, and the communication skills required to present project status information clearly to internal and external team members and management executives.
Certifications: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered a strong asset.
