**Job Title: General Production Worker – Day Shift**
**Job Description**
Join a busy shop and yard team where you will handle, move, and organize rebar and other metal products while helping to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area.
This role involves consistent heavy lifting, outdoor and indoor shop work, and close collaboration with a small crew to support daily production needs.
**Responsibilities**
Pick up rebar and load it onto trailers, ensuring materials are securely and safely positioned for transport.
Move rebar and other metal products around the yard and shop, placing them into designated bins or storage areas.
Measure products accurately and count bundles to confirm quantities and support inventory control.
Sort metal by type or designation, organizing materials in bins or specific yard locations for efficient retrieval.
Perform heavy lifting of approximately 40–50 lbs on a consistent basis as part of a 3–4 person team handling large pieces of metal.
Clean up the yard and shop by removing unwanted waste, scrap, and debris to maintain a safe and organized worksite.
Shovel dirt or other materials that accumulate in the shop and yard, keeping pathways and work areas clear.
Assist with loading and unloading materials from trucks, trailers, and other vehicles as required.
Support general shop and yard labor tasks, including sweeping, tidying work areas, and organizing materials to support production activities.
Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working with heavy materials and equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Collaborate closely with team members and follow direction from supervisors to complete daily production and yard tasks efficiently.
**Essential Skills**
Experience working in a shop or construction environment, including exposure to loading and unloading materials.
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift without loss of focus or quality.
Comfort and capability to lift approximately 50 lbs consistently as part of daily duties.
Previous experience working in outdoor and shop environments, including varying weather and site conditions.
Ability to perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, and general site cleanup.
Willingness to perform heavy, labor-intensive work in a dirty and physically demanding environment.
Basic English comprehension to understand instructions, safety information, and work assignments.
Reliability and punctuality for a day shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Machine shop experience, including familiarity with metalworking tools and processes.
Experience working with rebar, including cutting and bending operations.
Experience operating cranes in a shop or yard environment.
Experience as a machine operator in an industrial or production setting.
Previous experience in environments handling scrap metal, yard work, or construction-related tasks.

**Work Environment**
The role is based in a shop and yard environment focused on the design, fabrication, and installation of concrete reinforcing steel (rebar) and related metal products.
You will work both indoors and outdoors, handling heavy metal materials, sorting and loading them into bins, and supporting production activities.
The work is physically demanding, often dirty, and involves consistent heavy lifting alongside a small team of 2–4 people.
You will report to onsite supervisors and collaborate closely with teammates to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
The position follows a day shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with at least one month of work guaranteed and potential for extension.
The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and hands-on labor in an industrial setting where appropriate work attire suitable for a shop and yard, including protective gear, is expected.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
