**Job Title: Forklift Operator**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on safely and efficiently loading and unloading trailers in a busy crossdock setting, using a forklift and power pallet jacks to move, stage, and organize freight throughout the facility.
Approximately 85% of the workday involves operating a forklift, with the remaining time spent on general material handling and warehouse tasks.
**Responsibilities**
Load and unload trailers arriving at the facility using a forklift and power pallet jack (single and double end rider).
Move, stage, and organize freight in the crossdock area to ensure smooth and efficient flow of goods.
Operate forklifts and dockstockers safely and in accordance with facility procedures and safety guidelines.
Use walkie and RF scanners to track, scan, and verify products during shipping and receiving activities.
Perform general warehouse and material handling tasks, including palletizing, packaging, and organizing inventory.
Inspect equipment before use and report any issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Handle freight carefully to prevent damage while loading, unloading, and transporting materials.
Lift and move items up to 50 lbs as needed to support loading, unloading, and staging operations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with warehouse standards.
Work effectively as part of a team to meet operational timelines and productivity targets.
**Essential Skills**
Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or crossdock environment.
Experience with material handling, including loading and unloading trailers.
Ability to safely operate dockstockers and power pallet jacks, including single and double end rider units.
Comfort using walkie and RF scanners for shipping, receiving, and inventory tracking.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
Background in warehouse operations, general labor, shipping and receiving, and packaging.
Strong awareness of safety practices and commitment to following equipment and facility safety procedures.
Ability to work scheduled shifts, including days or nights, as required.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Previous experience working in a high-volume crossdock or similar fast-paced warehouse environment.
Familiarity with staging freight for outbound and inbound shipments.
Strong attention to detail when handling freight and verifying shipments.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a structured environment.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and equipment as needed.

**Work Environment**
The role is based in a crossdock warehouse where trailers arrive and depart continuously and must be loaded, unloaded, and staged efficiently.
You will spend most of your time operating forklifts, dockstockers, and power pallet jacks (including end riders), supported by RF scanners and standard warehouse equipment.
The environment is active and fast-paced, with a focus on safety and teamwork.
Available shifts include Thursday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday to Thursday from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Work attire should be appropriate for a warehouse setting, allowing for safe operation of equipment and manual handling of freight.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Calgary,AB.
