Join Burnaby Schools as a Safe School Support Specialist focusing on Substance Use Prevention and Health Promotion. This full-time temporary position involves working directly with students, staff, and families to foster resilience and support.
As part of the District Safe and Caring School team, you will implement health promotion initiatives aimed at reducing substance misuse among youth. Collaborating with educators, you will be integral in enhancing their capacity to address substance use concerns effectively. You will also take on the responsibility of liaising between schools, families, and community resources.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in developing and assessing prevention programs district-wide
• Gather and analyze data related to individual student needs




• Facilitate coordination of community resources and referrals
• Create and evaluate substance abuse curriculum materials
• Track statistics and prepare quarterly reports
Requirements:
• Grade 12 completion or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree related to addictions or substance use
• Three years of relevant experience required
• Robust knowledge of intervention methods and community resources
• Proficiency in computer software applications
