Job Description:
As a Tax Associate, you will work as a part of a team of professionals helping to solve complex tax problems from strategy to execution. Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare Canadian (personal and trust) and US (personal, trust, partnership and corporate) income tax returns and related forms/deliverables, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Draft responses to the CRA / IRS regarding letters and notices.
- Research on tax technical matters.
- Engage with team members to service clients and bring value to them.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to bring order to unstructured problems.
- Assist with office administrative tasks as required.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Exposure to Canadian and/or US individual tax knowledge.
- Strong customer service skills and experience in client facing roles.
- Robust analytical, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with a proactive attitude.
- Ability to learn quickly and manage multiple work assignments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels.
- Ability to maintain high productivity under time constraints.
- Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Qualifications:
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree (Required to provide transcript)
- Background in Accounting preferred
- Prior tax preparation and client service experience is advantageous but not required
- Prior client-servicing experience is ideal
- Exposure to TaxPrep and/or CCH Axcess is an asset
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday (7.5-hour shifts)
Additional information:
- This position requires on-site work at our Vancouver office
- Overtime is required during tax season (February to April) depending on business needs.
