Standard Electric is a British Columbia electrical contractor specializing in municipal streetlight and traffic intersection work — installation, maintenance, and emergency repair of streetlight and traffic signal systems for municipalities and public agencies across the Lower Mainland. We're growing our municipal service crew and looking for a ticketed Journeyman Electrician who's comfortable working on live traffic infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Install, maintain, and repair streetlight and traffic signal systems, including controllers, loop detectors, pedestrian signals, and illuminated signage
- Respond to emergency callouts for signal and streetlight outages, including after-hours/on-call rotation
- Set up and maintain traffic control zones to BC traffic control standards
- Work from bucket trucks/aerial devices at heights and around live traffic
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and municipal specifications
- Complete accurate service records and reports for municipal clients
- Coordinate with municipal inspectors and public works staff in office
What you need
- Red Seal / Interprovincial Journeyman Electrician certification (BC ticket or equivalent)
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence with a clean abstract (Class 3 an asset for bucket truck operation)
- Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification, or willingness to obtain before start
- Comfortable working at heights and in live traffic environments
- Strong independent troubleshooting skills; able to work solo or as part of a small crew
- Prior experience with streetlight or traffic signal systems (municipal, utility, or similar) is a strong asset
Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour
