Our client, Manitoba's oldest and most diversified retail pet store provides a wide range of services including food supplies, daycare, grooming, training and boarding.
They are looking to add a General Manager who can lead daily operations across all departments, build robust customer relationships, support revenue growth, and create a positive, accountable company culture.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established business and build a unified, operationally efficient and high-accountability business across retail and pet care departments while driving consistent profit growth, seamless staffing and operational excellence.
General Manager Responsibilities:
- Leading HR function including recruitment, hiring, performance management, accountability and team leadership.
- Succession planning including identifying and training internal team members to perform successfully in lead positions.
- Full P&L; oversight including managing overall labor budgets, scheduling strategies across all departments, maintaining "wage to revenue targets" while delegating weekly schedules.
- Oversee inventory planning and control including stock turns, vendor relations, loss prevention and holding teams accountable for inventory counts and execution.
- Multi-Department Oversight unifying retail, grooming and daycare departments under one operational framework, ensuring uniform delivery on policies, safety standards and service quality.
- Leading business performance and customer experience.
- Drive steady, profitable revenue growth while upholding our values that ensure customer advice, products and service always take priority.
- Maintain high cleanliness, safety,
visual merchandising and facility maintenance standards across both the retail floor and daycare facilities.
- Resolve high-level client concerns or team escalations promptly and efficiently.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff while setting clear expectations for performance.
The Successful Candidate Has:
- 3+ years of direct management experience in a multi-department retail, service or hospitality environment with P&L; or budget responsibility.
- The ability to make decisions and lead independently with ownership mindset.
- A proven track record in recruitment, establishing HR frameworks, performance evaluations and terminations when required.
- Ability to handle complex personalities and workplace stress with composure, while keeping business goals, team productivity and accountability paramount.
- Strong proficiency with POS platforms, inventory management tools, labor scheduling software and operational KPI's.
- Ability to proactively identify operational gaps while implementing solutions independently.
- Strong experience with inventory and labor control and alignment with budgets.
- The ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with customers, suppliers and all levels of staff.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The discussed salary range is $80,000-$100,000 depending on experience.
