Description

DV8 Energy is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Solutions Engineer to support and advance our product growth in production, automation, and oil and gas technologies. Serving as a key technical bridge between enterprise customers, field technologists, and internal engineering teams, this role combines hardware, software, and oilfield engineering expertise with a focus on Pump Off Controllers (POC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and cloud-based production optimization tools.

Your Background

- The ideal candidate is hands-on, customer-focused, technically curious, and motivated to solve real-world field challenges through engineering expertise, system integration, and software-driven innovation.

Responsibilities

- Technical Interface: Act as a primary technical point of contact for DV8 Energy Field Technologists and enterprise customers, supporting production and automation initiatives.
- Product Expertise: Provide solution guidance and expert support on DV8 Energy’s Pump Off Controller (POC) and VFD technologies.
- System Integration: Troubleshoot and configure industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, MQTT, Serial) connecting field hardware and instrumentation to DV8’s cloud platform.
- Customer Enablement & Training: Conduct in office, in-person, and remote training sessions for customers and internal teams on DV8’s hardware and software technologies.
- Cloud Solutions Guidance: Serve as a subject matter expert on DV8 Energy’s cloud optimization tools, guiding users on configuration, data visualization, and effective system usage.
- Software & Tooling Contribution:



Identify recurring field or customer challenges and contribute to developing software tools, automation scripts, or product feature requests to address them.
- Documentation & Schematics: Create and maintain process documentation, technical manuals, single-line diagrams, and control panel schematics (using CAD or schematic software).
- Issue Ownership: Drive complex customer technical issues end-to-end, working cross-functionally with R&D;, firmware, and software teams to deliver timely resolutions.

Skills

- Engineering Tools & Schematics: Experience reading and drafting electrical/control schematics (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools).
- Industrial Protocols: Familiarity with industrial automation protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, MQTT) and control panel components.
- Software & Scripting: Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript) for data handling or cloud integration; familiarity with C/C++ or embedded environments is an asset.
- OS & Tools: Familiarity with Linux environments and basic command-line operations.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to explain technical concepts to audiences ranging from field operators to executive stakeholders.
- Problem Solving & Drive:



Highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated by complex end-to-end troubleshooting.

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on engineering experience (relevant Co-Op or internship experience accepted).
- Domain Focus: Demonstrated interest or experience in artificial lift systems (rod pump, ESP, etc.), industrial automation, or oilfield production optimization.

Requirements

- Environment: Ability to work in an office setting (90%) with occasional travel to customer field sites (10%).
- Driving & Safety: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record. (Standard oilfield safety certifications like H2S Alive and First Aid are considered assets).
