Junior GIS Technician, Full time Contract located in Calgary Alberta

As a member of the project team the Junior GIS Technician uses ArcGIS, other GIS software, and various Microsoft Office programs to prepare maps, sketches, data, reports and project specific deliverables. Works as part of a team and provides the GIS Lead Analysts with information as requested.

This position is in based in Calgary, Alberta and requires a minimum office presence of four days per week Monday to Thursday.

Key Responsibilities

· Responsible for assisting GIS Lead Analysts and Analysts in creating required project deliverables

· Follows established GIS standards and work flows

· Responsible for producing high quality data/maps on a consistent and timely basis

· Openly shares work knowledge with the GIS team

· Conforms to and utilizes GIS standards for project deliverables

· Follows direction of GIS Project Managers and/or GIS Lead Analysts

Qualifications and Attributes

· GIS Diploma or GIS Degree required

· 0-4 years of related experience





· Training in computer programs such as ArcGIS, FME, and Microsoft Office

· Training or experience in scripting such as Python would be considered an asset

· Familiar with Esri GIS environments 9.x or 10.x (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox, etc)

· Familiar with Microsoft Office suite

· Familiar with data manipulation/editing within tables

· Familiar with creating/editing geospatial files types

· Experience in plotting, printing and producing maps as required by the GIS project team

· Ability to follow directions and execute actions with supervision
