Overview:

Chilliwack Youth Health Centre is an integrated youth service provider of medical and mental health care services for youth aged 12-26. Our mission is to empower youth through providing accessible low barrier, same day medical and mental health integrated youth services. Collaborating with youth to be where they need services, when, and how they need them.

The Program & Peer Support Assistant placement offers a supportive and community-oriented opportunity to assist CYHC’s youth-focused programming while building experience in peer support and mentoring. Participants will help deliver programs and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive setting for youth and emerging adults.

In addition to program support, this role includes hands-on experience with administrative and reception tasks that contribute to the smooth daily operations of CYHC’s service sites. Participants will also support communications and digital outreach, helping to share CYHC’s story through social media, online engagement, and promotional efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

- Greet clients and visitors in a welcoming and professional manner
- Provide reception support including answering phones and managing email inquiries
- Help with basic inventory tracking and supplies management
- Assist with set-up, coordination, and clean-up during CYHC programs and events
- Welcome youth participants and help foster a positive, safe atmosphere
- Offer peer-based support through listening, conversation, and guidance
- Help prepare program materials and resources
- Maintain organized filing systems and support data entry tasks
- Assist with content creation for social media, website, and digital campaigns
- Support outreach efforts and promote upcoming programming
- Participate in reflective activities and team discussions

Eligibility: This role is for people who may face challenges finding regular work, including those receiving income or disability support. We’re looking for applicants who are a good fit—comfortable in youth-friendly spaces and interested in learning and contributing in this kind of role. Training and support will be provided to help you grow.

To qualify for this work experience placement, individuals must meet the following:

1. Receive or be eligible to receive one of the following:

- Income Assistance (IA) under the Employment and Assistance Act
- Disability Assistance (DA) under the Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Act
- Hardship Assistance (HA) under the Employment and Assistance Act
- Income assistance through the Person with Persistent Multiple Barriers to Employment (PPMB) benefit
- Equivalent federal assistance administered by a First Nation Administering Authority (for Indigenous participants on reserve or treaty lands)

2. Not currently receiving WorkSafe BC benefits

3. Able to participate in a work experience placement of: Low Intensity: 200 hours total (e.g., 10 hours/week for 20 weeks)

4. Flexible and willing to perform various tasks as assigned

Participants will receive a stipend (not wages) to support their involvement, and participation will not affect their income or disability assistance benefits.

Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
