- An Occupational Therapist in a good standing with the College of Occupational Therapist of Manitoba and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
- Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy required.
- Minimum two (2) years’ previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of computer applications preferred; (MDS) clinical database exposure an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) years of geriatric clinical experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to motivate and coach staff required.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills with Resident/families and staff required.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the interdisciplinary team required.
- Subject to Criminal Record Check.
- Lifting alone, maximum 50 lbs./23 kg (2.2-1.2 kg usual).
- Lifting with assistance, maximum 160 lbs./73 kg 945-55 kg usual).
- Pushing/pulling, content that weighs a maximum of 160 lbs./73 kg (45-55kg usual).
- Stretching/lifting on a regular basis throughout the shift.
- Walking, with the possibility of some upstairs walking.
- Standing, for lengths of time, up to 3 hours maximum, (1-2 hours usual).
- Bending/stooping, crouching/kneeling for a short period of time.
- Carries and transports objects of various sizes, to a maximum of 25 lbs. (5-15 lbs. Usual).
- Can demonstrate accountability in a leadership role.
- Experience assessing resident’s need using RAI 2.0 as required by CIHI in conjunction with the assessment as required by resident’s needs and team responsibilities.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Occupational Therapist is responsible for all management functions of the Rehabilitation Department within the mission and philosophy of Fred Douglas Society.
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist assesses, plans, implements, modifies, and documents the treatment of continuing care for Residents to assist them to attain or maintain healthy, independent, and productive lives.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORKING CONDITIONS
The conditions of work may involve exposure to unpredictable resident behaviour, injury from sharps and other instruments.
Pay: $38.92-$45.12 per hour
Expected hours: 31.0 per week
