About the Clients:

You'll be supporting a wonderful couple in their 90s who live together in a two-story home in Brighton. Mom is 92 and has experienced a stroke that affects her speech, though she communicates well through writing. She uses a walker and needs assistance with mobility and transfers, including navigating a chair lift between floors. Dad has short-term memory challenges but is otherwise independent and mobile. Both maintain their independence where possible—they dress themselves and Mom handles many of her own transfers with supervision. The home has accessibility features including a chair lift, ramps, and a gait belt for secure transfers.

Responsibilities:

- Assist Mom with mobility support using walker, including transfers to and from the chair lift
- Supervise and provide standby assistance during chair lift use and stair navigation
- Help with bathroom assistance as needed
- Prepare simple breakfast items (toast, poached eggs) for both clients
- Provide medication reminders for Dad
- Assist with positioning Mom in her preferred sitting areas (TV room, couch)
- Light tidying and meal setup
- Support morning routine including potential assistance getting Mom downstairs if she sleeps in

What We're Looking For:

- Experience with walker and wheelchair assistance
- Comfortable with transfer techniques and gait belt use
- Patient and calm demeanor, especially with communication challenges
- Ability to work with clients who have cognitive changes (memory care experience)

Schedule:

Tuesday mornings, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, ongoing for a minimum of three months starting mid-September. This is a recurring weekly shift providing respite care while the family member teaches.
