Concordia University of Edmonton’s (CUE) Thunder Athletics program is a highly competitive member of both the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). With more than 30 years of competition, Thunder Athletics has established itself as one of Western Canada’s most decorated collegiate athletic programs, with:

Thunder Athletics takes pride in bringing the CUE community together through the hosting of 60+ athletic events annually both on campus and throughout the Edmonton community.
The Game Day Announcer serves as the voice of the Concordia Thunder and plays an important role in creating an exciting, engaging, and qualified game-day experience for athletes, students, fans, and the broader CUE community.
The successful candidate will help set the tone and energy of our home events while ensuring that announcements are delivered clearly, professionally, and in accordance with league and event requirements.
Responsibilities include:

Introducing starting lineups for participating teams.
- Making major game announcements, including scores, milestones, highlighting big plays, and other key moments.
- Coordinating with the game-day team and playing music when appropriate.
- Recognizing sponsors and supporting promotional activities.
- Following game-day scripts while bringing creativity and personality to the role.
- Working collaboratively with Athletics staff, officials, coaches, and event personnel.
- Assisting with event set-up and tear-down as required.
The successful candidate must be available and willing to work all assigned home athletic events, including evenings and weekends.

The ideal candidate:
- Has a confident, energetic, and engaging personality.
- Enjoys being in front of a crowd and knows how to connect with an audience.
- Has a strong and recognizable microphone presence.
- Can bring excitement and enthusiasm to big moments while maintaining a professional tone.
- Is comfortable thinking on their feet and adapting to the unpredictable nature of live sport.
- Can follow a script while also adding their own creativity and personality to the event.
- Understands the importance of creating a positive and welcoming environment for athletes, spectators, visiting teams, and officials.
- Is a passionate fan of sport and enjoys being part of the Game Day atmosphere.
- Previous experience as an emcee, public-address announcer, broadcaster, or event host is considered an asset.
Requirements:
- Strong and confident microphone presence.
- Excellent communication and public-speaking skills.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the rules of basketball, volleyball, hockey, and soccer
- Ability to think quickly and adapt in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
- Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with athletes, coaches, officials, staff, and spectators.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check results.
