Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: HTLH 2201- Intro to Indigenous Peoples’ Health and Well-Being. The course will be offered in the Winter Term, from January 1st to April 30, 2027. This is an online (asynchronous) course and involves lectures.

This course provides students the prospect to learn about Indigenous perspectives regarding health, as well as the multiple and complex challenges facing Indigenous peoples with respect to key health issues, such as health and social inequities, the epidemiology of disease and culturally appropriate service provision.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures and preparation and grading of assignments. The course will be taught using Brightspace (LMS- learning management system) and online in the winter term. In addition, the part time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparation in advance of the term. The part-time academic may consider offering one to two office hours outside of class time per week.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

- As this course centers Indigenous knowledge and perspectives, candidates who self-identify as Indigenous peoples are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in Indigenous knowledge systems relevant to the course, which may include lived experience, community-based knowledge, and/or scholarly work grounded in Indigenous perspectives.
- Graduate degree in Kinesiology,



Health Promotion or Recreation and Leisure Studies with demonstrated teaching ability preferred.

Salary Range/Pay Rate

Per CUPE Collective Agreement
