Carpenters at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state Carpenters or Multi-Skilled Tradespeople use the skills of carpenters, drywallers and painters! If you’re passionate about helping people and skilled at making things right, this is your chance to make a real difference.

Compensation

- Salary Range: $30-$34/hour
- Overtime opportunities (where applicable)
- On-call premium and overtime paid for rotating coverage

What You’ll Do

- Finishing work and fine details, rough and trim
- Installation, doors, trim, moldings, baseboards and hardware
- Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
- Drywall repairs, mudding, sanding, taping and finishing
- Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim)
- Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
- Insulation and vapour barrier installation
- Cabinetry (removal, repair, reinstallation)
- Flooring installation and repairs
- Framing

What You Bring

- 3+ years doing interior carpentry repairs/restoration
- Refined skills with various in-home renovation repairs/restoration/rebuild focus (flood/fire damage) vs new build
- Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
- Tools and the skills to use them
- Strong people and communication skills
- A safety mindset
- Willingness to cross train into other departments (Contents, Water Damage, Emergency, Demolition)
- Tech-savvy (comfortable using apps and software)
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.

- Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours as per the schedule. Premium and overtime is paid.




- Do you have a JM or Red Seal Carpentry ticket or any formal training in Carpentry. Please describe.
- Restoration work requires documentation and tracking throughout your workday. Are you comfortable operating a phone/tablet to navigate through applications and record info as instructed?
- Do you have your own hand and power tools as needed to complete various in home repairs? Please note that On Side provides materials and supplies.
- This position requires frequent heavy lifting, as well as continuous physical activity such as standing, crouching, bending, reaching, and kneeling. Are you able to perform this level of physical work on a consistent basis?
- Please list any additional skills you may have that are not present on your resume (example: cabinetry, texturing, flooring, ceilings, fences, decks, etc).
- This position requires a multi-skilled tradesperson who can assess and repair damage in homes and businesses following flood, fire, or other property losses. The work involves a variety of interior repairs, including carpentry, drywall, painting, trim work, and general problem-solving to restore damaged areas.

Experience:

- drywalling/ drywall repairs/ patching: 1 year (preferred)
- interior home renovation/repair: 3 years (preferred)
- finish carpentry: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Canadian Driver's License (required)
