About NuWave School of Hair Design
NuWave School of Hair Design is a working hairstyling school where students develop their technical skills through a combination of classroom education and hands-on salon experience with real clients.
We are looking for an experienced, confident, and skilled licensed hairstylist to join our team as a Floor Supervisor / Hairstyling Instructor. This position is ideal for an experienced stylist who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and helping future hairstylists develop strong technical skills, professionalism, and confidence behind the chair.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must:
- Be a licensed hairstylist with a minimum of 4 years of licensed experience
- Provide a copy of their hairstyling licence and any additional relevant certifications
- Be available to work full-time, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Have solid knowledge and practical experience in haircutting, hairstyling, colour, perming, and other chemical services
- Be comfortable assisting with colour formulation, product selection, service placement, and corrective guidance
- Have strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Be confident supervising and providing direction to students in a busy salon-school environment
- Be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to consistently enforce school policies and expectations
- Have the ability to provide constructive feedback while maintaining a positive and professional learning environment
Key Responsibilities
As Floor Supervisor, you will oversee students during practical salon operations and provide hands-on instruction and support throughout the school day.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising students while they perform services on clients
- Providing instruction and assistance with haircutting, styling, colour services, perming, and other chemical processes
- Assisting students with colour formulation, service placement, product selection, and achieving desired client results
- Reviewing student consultations and service plans before services begin
- Monitoring student productivity and ensuring students remain actively engaged throughout the day
- Ensuring students complete required practical units when they are not working with clients
- Providing constructive feedback and helping students strengthen their technical and professional skills
- Maintaining professional, safety, sanitation, dress code, and floor-conduct standards
- Ensuring student workstations and end-of-day responsibilities are completed appropriately
- Assisting with the enforcement of school policies and procedures
- Completing weekly inventory checks for colour and salon products
- Working alongside school administration and other supervisors/instructors to maintain an organized, professional, and productive learning environment
Schedule & Availability
This is a full-time Monday–Friday position from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
The successful candidate must have reliable availability and understand that consistent attendance is essential due to the supervisory and instructional nature of the position.
All statutory holidays are off, and the school closes for atwo-week unpaid Christmas break. A yearly schedule outlining school closures and days off will be provided.

Previous teaching or supervisory experience is an asset; however, strong industry experience, leadership skills, and a genuine interest in educating future hairstylists are highly valued.
