Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee day-to-day field operations on large-scale construction projects. This individual will serve as the primary onsite coordinator, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. They will facilitate daily coordination meetings, document project discussions and issues, resolve conflicts between stakeholders, and maintain alignment across contractors, vendors, and project teams. This opportunity is an 18-month contract with the potential for extension and requires working onsite five days per week in Castlegar, BC.

The Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing contractor coordination, monitoring compliance with site safety requirements, conducting general site observations, and providing feedback related to safety management plans. They will act as a key point of contact for contractors, answering questions, escalating issues when necessary, and ensuring work progresses according to schedule.

Responsibilities

- Serve as one of the first onsite personnel each day to support site startup activities and daily coordination efforts.
- Lead and facilitate daily contractor and stakeholder coordination meetings.
- Document discussions, risks, conflicts, and action items, ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.
- Monitor contractor compliance with project requirements, safety procedures, and site-specific safety management plans.
- Conduct regular site observations and provide feedback on safety performance and compliance.
- Coordinate with multiple contractors working in a multi-employer construction environment.
- Support contractor onboarding, site access, and local contractor engagement activities.




- Respond to contractor questions and direct issues to the appropriate stakeholders for resolution.
- Ensure required documentation and site logs are maintained accurately and consistently.
- Monitor contractor adherence to site requirements, including lock-up procedures and workforce compliance.
- Prepare project summaries, documentation, and stakeholder communications.
- Identify and escalate risks that could impact project safety, schedule, or execution.

Required Skills & Experience

1. Heavy Construction Experience

- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy construction environments.
- Experience working on large-scale industrial, mining, infrastructure, utility, or multi-employer construction sites.
- Robust understanding of construction operations and contractor coordination.

2. Construction Safety Knowledge

- Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and regulations.
- Ability to identify safety concerns, ask the right questions, and ensure compliance with site safety plans.
- Familiarity with WorkSafe regulations and industry best practices.

3. Contractor & Site Coordination Experience

- Experience coordinating multiple contractors and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and resolve issues in real time.
- Experience leading site coordination meetings and facilitating communication between parties.

4. Communication & Documentation Skills

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to document discussions, conflicts, risks,



and resolutions accurately.
- Comfortable preparing reports, summaries, and stakeholder communications.

5. Basic Computer Proficiency

- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Comfortable managing project documentation, emails, and tracking logs.

6. Adaptability & Problem Solving

- Ability to think on your feet and respond effectively to changing priorities.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced environments where no two days are the same.
- Robust decision-making and conflict-resolution skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

1. Utility or Hydro Experience

- Previous experience supporting hydro, utility, transmission, distribution, or major capital infrastructure projects.

2. Mechanical or Civil Construction Background

- Formal education or practical experience in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related disciplines.

3. Union Environment Experience

- Experience working within unionized construction environments.
- Understanding of labor agreements, workforce coordination, and union contractor relationships.

4. First Aid or Safety Certifications

- Occupational First Aid certification.
- CSO, NCSO, CSTS, or other construction safety credentials.

5. Strong Relationship-Building Skills

Pay: $85.00-$95.00 per hour
