Occupational Therapist (OT) – Pediatric / Autism Services
KIDZ AUTISM AND SPEECH CLINIC is a growing multidisciplinary pediatric clinic providing supportive, family-centred services to children and families across the Durham Region. We are currently seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist (OT Reg. (Ont.)) to join our team on a part-time or full time basis as an independent contractor arrangement.
The successful candidate will work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, developmental disabilities, sensory processing challenges, developmental delays, and other functional needs. Services may be provided in our clinic mainly, home, school/daycare, or community settings depending on client needs.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and collaborative Occupational Therapist who enjoys working with children and families and who is committed to providing evidence-informed, individualized care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct occupational therapy assessments appropriate to the child's needs, developmental level, and referral concerns.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with children, parents/caregivers, and other members of the care team.
- Provide occupational therapy intervention to support participation and function in areas such as self-care, play, school activities, routines, sensory-motor skills, fine-motor skills, and daily activities.
- Provide recommendations, strategies, and education to parents/caregivers, educators, and other professionals as appropriate.
- Monitor client progress and modify intervention plans based on clinical findings and response to treatment.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and skilled clinical documentation and reports.
- Communicate effectively with families, educators, and other healthcare and allied-health professionals,
with appropriate consent and within skilled requirements.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and collaborative treatment planning as required.
- Work within the Occupational Therapy scope of practice and applicable professional standards, legislation, and clinic policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect client privacy at all times.
- Complete other clinically appropriate duties within the scope of occupational therapy practice.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and eligibility to practise in Ontario.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to use the title Occupational Therapist/OT and practise occupational therapy in Ontario.
- Current professional liability insurance appropriate to occupational therapy practice.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check, where required for working with children.
- Experience working with children and youth, particularly children with autism or developmental disabilities, is strongly preferred.
- Experience in pediatric occupational therapy, sensory processing, developmental therapy, or school-based/community practice is an asset.
- Strong clinical reasoning, organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to family-centred, ethical, evidence-informed, and culturally responsive care.
- A valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle or other dependable transportation may be required for home, school, daycare, or community-based services.

Schedule
