Occupational Therapist (OT) / Physiotherapist (PT)

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist (OT) and/or Physiotherapist (PT) to join our interdisciplinary team in a long-term care/nursing home setting in Alberta.

Position Details

- Position: Occupational Therapist (OT) / Physiotherapist (PT)
- Employment: 1.0 FTE Full-Time and 0.5 FTE Part-Time
- Status: Permanent
- Location: [Nursing Home Name], Alberta
- Reports To: Occupational Therapy Manager

Key Responsibilities

As part of our interdisciplinary care team, you will:

- Assess residents' functional, mobility, and rehabilitation needs.
- Develop individualized treatment and care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
- Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions to maintain or improve residents' strength, mobility, function, independence, and quality of life.
- Complete assessments and reassessments and monitor residents' progress.
- Provide recommendations related to mobility, transfers, seating, positioning, equipment, and falls prevention as appropriate.
- Collaborate with nursing, health care aides, physicians, recreation, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in care planning and contribute to resident-centred goals.
- Provide education and recommendations to residents, families, and staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.




- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and activities that support excellent resident care.

Qualifications

- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy program.
- Current registration and good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) for OT or the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta (CPA) for PT. Provisional registration is accepted.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and clinical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- A genuine interest in working with seniors and supporting resident-centred care.
- New graduates are welcome to apply.
- Previous experience in long-term care, continuing care, geriatrics, or rehabilitation is an asset but not required.
- Knowledge or experience with MDS/RAI is an asset.
- Experience with mobility assessments, falls prevention, seating/positioning, and adaptive equipment is an asset.
