POSITION SUMMARY
The Millwright reports directly to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the Production Manager. The Millwright position will be responsible for performing mechanical maintenance on machinery, installing, dismantling, and moving machinery and heavy equipment within a manufacturing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Diagnosing mechanical issues and implementing innovative solutions for equipment breakdowns
- Utilizing skills in mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metalwork, and machining for problem-solving
- Dismantling, assembling, installing, and relocating machinery with precision
- Modifying, repairing, maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting various equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Inspecting and examining machinery to detect malfunctions and irregularities
- Conducting preventative maintenance programs in line with equipment standards
- Performing troubleshooting and preventative maintenance tasks
- Recommending solutions for routine and complex equipment problems
- Supporting equipment changeovers, setups, takedowns, and relocations
- Responding promptly and effectively to equipment issues, focusing on customer service
- Applying comprehensive knowledge of safety standards, policies, and procedures
- Undertaking additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or authorized management personnel
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to equipment and machinery.
- Dismantle equipment when required for repair or transportation and reassemble it at the appropriate time.
- Create solid foundations for machines on-site to ensure their safe and efficient functioning.
- Align and calibrate machinery and equipment as required for effective and safe operation.
- Make recommendations to lower costs with equipment maintenance and repair.
- Make recommendations to replace or acquire equipment, machinery, and tools.
- Commissioning of equipment as required.
- Plan and undertake special projects for efficiency improvements as well as breakdown maintenance.
- Solicit supplier quotes, forward PO’s to suppliers and coordinating subcontractor activities related to site facilities and equipment.
- Hosting and supervising trades, subcontractors, and technical staff for the purpose of equipment commissioning and repair.
- Consult with management team for maintenance budget.
- Maintain timelines for all projects.
- Other duties as required
EDUCATION, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE:
- 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright/Red Seal license is an asset.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of working experience of electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics & roll forming is preferred.
- Working knowledge of build and design / fabrication / machining.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, saws & measuring tools
- Welding, cutting torch experience
- Ability to lift 40+lbs.
