Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable and technically minded Telecommunications Equipment Installer / Cable Service Technician to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications and cable/internet equipment at residential and/or commercial locations. The position involves working with customers, using hand and testing tools, identifying service issues, and ensuring telecommunications equipment is installed and functioning properly.

This position is classified under NOC 72205 – Telecommunications equipment installation and cable television service technicians.

Responsibilities

- Install, connect, disconnect, relocate, and maintain telecommunications and cable service equipment.
- Install and configure cable outlets, splitters, terminals, digital boxes, modems, routers, and related equipment.
- Install and configure equipment and software required for internet connectivity.
- Test cable, internet, and telecommunications signals using appropriate testing equipment.
- Diagnose connectivity, signal, equipment, and service-related problems.
- Troubleshoot and repair or replace defective telecommunications equipment, wiring, connectors, and related components.
- Inspect completed installations to ensure equipment and connections are operating correctly.




- Communicate with customers to understand service requirements and explain basic equipment operation.
- Follow work orders, installation procedures, safety requirements, and company standards.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, testing, and service calls.
- Coordinate with supervisors, dispatchers, and other technicians to complete assigned work.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
- Perform other related telecommunications installation and service duties as required.

Qualifications

- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Previous experience in telecommunications, cable, internet, electrical, electronics, networking, or a related field is an asset.
- Knowledge of basic telecommunications, cable, internet, wiring, and electronic equipment.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and testing equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valuable communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and safety procedures.
- Physically capable of performing installation work, including bending, lifting, reaching, and working in different environments.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation may be required depending on the work location.
- Willingness to work at customer locations and travel between job sites.

Pay: $18.85 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
