About Music4Life
Music4Life is an established private practice providing clinical music therapy, music recreation, and music education across Mississauga, Oakville, Hamilton, and the Greater Toronto Area.
Our practice has developed unique, long-standing relationships with Community Partners, allowing our Music Therapists to provide services within a diverse range of community-based environments. These partnerships are an important part of what distinguishes Music4Life and provide therapists with opportunities to work collaboratively within the settings where clients live, learn, work, and participate in their communities.
About the Position
We are seeking a dynamic, clinically skilled Music Therapist to join our growing practice. This position offers the opportunity to work across the lifespan with children, adults, and seniors living with ASD, intellectual and developmental disabilities, communication and behavioural challenges, and complex support needs.
Full-day availability on Saturdays in Mississauga is required, with additional weekday opportunities available.
This is an opportunity for a therapist who values clinical autonomy, creativity, interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful therapeutic relationships. You will assess needs, develop individualized and group interventions,
collaborate with families and other professionals, and integrate music therapy into clients' everyday environments.
Working with people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities offers a unique clinical experience. Music therapists are able to work beyond traditional clinical settings and address communication, social-emotional, behavioural, cognitive, and functional goals through music. The diversity of clients and settings provides considerable opportunity to develop your own clinical interests and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct music therapy assessments and develop individualized treatment goals and interventions
- Provide individual and group music therapy
- Apply evidence-informed clinical music therapy techniques and interventions, including improvisation
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, support staff, and other professionals
- Monitor and document client response, progress, and clinical interventions
- Contribute to program development and the growth of Music4Life services
- Supervise music therapy students and/or volunteers as appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy
- MTA status or actively seeking accreditation
- Membership in good standing with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists
- Strong clinical musicianship in voice, piano, and guitar
- Experience working with people living with ASD and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
- Excellent clinical communication, assessment, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check and professional liability insurance
- Reliable vehicle and willingness to travel between community locations
- Full-day Saturday availability in Mississauga
Experienced Music Therapists are preferred; however, exceptional new graduates and early-career clinicians with strong clinical skills and a genuine interest in this population are encouraged to apply.
