DESCRIPTION

Ever wondered how Amazon's selling partners — the brands, manufacturers, and sellers behind the products customers buy every day — make decisions about what to make, what to ship, and where to grow? The analytics tools this team builds are a core part of that answer. Over a million selling partners use Amazon's seller and vendor portals to manage their business. The Selling Partner Analytics team builds the analytics experiences that surface the data behind every significant decision they make: sales trends across dozens of markets, real-time inventory signals, multi-year performance comparisons, and AI-assisted insights that help partners understand not just what happened, but why.

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join a team that is maintaining a production system millions of selling partners depend on, while also building the next generation of analytics experiences on top of it.

The engineering work spans the full stack. On the backend, you will design and implement Java services powering analytics end-to-end: query construction and routing against a dynamic query engine, caching, response transformation, and API contract ownership across large-scale datasets spanning real-time and multi-year aggregations. These services back independently deployable widgets — KPI scorecards, trend charts, metric selectors — that selling partners use daily inside seller and vendor portals. The team is also building AI-powered analytics experiences that are already live and growing in capability. Selling partners can ask a question in plain language and get purpose-built dashboards in return. Diagnostic workflows in development will help partners understand not just what changed in their business, but why. We are integrating real-time data so partners can monitor sales and inventory at the cadence they actually operate at.

If you are looking for an setting where you can drive innovation, apply modern software technologies to real-world problems at scale, and see the direct impact of your work on how global businesses operate, this is that opportunity. Engineers here own their features from design through production.

The team values technical growth and gives people the room to take on more over time.

Key job responsibilities

- Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture, design, and working software by partnering with Technical Product Managers, UX designers, and stakeholders across the org.

- Design and implement backend Java microservices powering analytics data access end-to-end: query construction and routing against a dynamic query engine, caching strategies, response transformation, and API contract ownership.

- Contribute to front-end widget development using React, building the analytics experiences that surface backend data to selling partners across Seller Central and Vendor Central.

- Build and deploy widget infrastructure using CDK: define the AWS resources, alarms, and deployment pipelines that keep each widget observable and independently releasable.

- Deliver AI-powered analytics features, including diagnostic workflows that identify why a business metric moved and surface relevant dimensions, natural language dashboard generation, and AI-assisted metric recommendation.

- Integrate real-time data pipelines so selling partners can monitor sales and inventory at the cadence their business requires.

- Demonstrate ownership of end-to-end code quality: write tests, instrument metrics, oncall rotation, and close the loop on customer-reported issues.

- Partner and collaborate across teams and roles, including engineering, product, UX, and dependent services teams, to scope work accurately, surface risks early, and deliver results.

- Mentor other engineers through code review, design feedback, and direct pairing, and help define the technical culture of a growing team.
