Defend Environmental Ltd. is seeking a Casual Responder to join our team. We are a local, family-owned environmental services company that values teamwork, integrity, and a strong work ethic. Position Overview:

The Responder is responsible for the immediate, front-line handling to mitigate, contain, and initiate clean-up of environmental emergencies. This role supports emergency response operations by ensuring environmental protection standards are met consistently. Commitment to maintain strong compliance with applicable Saskatchewan environmental and safety regulations is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

- Respond to environmental emergency calls ensuring timely arrival at incident sites with the direction of a site lead
- Working and cooperating alongside a team, with adherence to technical advising and training
- Assist primary responders by promptly and safely deploying containment measures (e.g., booms, barriers) and securing the scene
- Monitor and document conditions on site, providing accurate and detailed reports
- Follow all applicable provincial, federal, and company safety protocols to ensure that environmental regulations are always maintained
- Attend ongoing training and drills to maintain readiness
- Be available for an on-call rotating schedule, ensuring flexible coverage for safety incidents




- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education or technical certification is an asset)
- Valid driver’s licence
- 1–2 years of experience in hazardous materials handling, environmental/industrial services, or related fields
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan hazardous materials regulations
- Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures
- Collaborative team-working skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in physically strenuous outdoor environments in a variety of climates (summer and winter conditions)
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting
