As an Electrical Designer, you will report to the Sr. Director of Engineering and work as part of a multidisciplinary team developing Videri's digital display products and solutions. You will contribute to products that integrate electronics, displays, power systems, mechanical and industrial design, firmware, software, and connectivity.
You will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Product, and external manufacturing and development partners to take products from concept and prototype through validation and production.
This is a full-time position open to candidates in the Montreal or Toronto area. It is a remote first position, with occasional office presence depending on business needs.
Position Responsibilities
- Participate in the design, development, prototyping, testing, validation, and integration of Videri hardware products and display solutions.
- Develop and support electrical and electronics designs at the PCBA and system level, including power, processors, display interfaces, connectivity, and supporting circuitry.
- Translate product and system requirements into electrical specifications, component selections, schematics, block diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Perform board bring-up, troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis of electrical and electronic systems.
- Work closely with mechanical, industrial design, firmware, and software teams to ensure successful system integration.
- Support power architecture and power-supply design, including power distribution, protection, efficiency, and thermal considerations.
- Integrate display technologies and interfaces such as LVDS, HDMI, eDP, MIPI, USB, and other relevant digital interfaces.
- Create and execute test and validation plans covering electrical, functional, thermal, reliability, and system performance.
- Support product certification and compliance activities, including UL/CSA, FCC, CE, EMC/EMI, and other applicable standards.
- Work with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and development partners to support prototyping, NPI, manufacturing transfer, production testing, and product quality.
- Produce explicit technical documentation, including specifications, schematics, drawings, BOMs, test documentation, and manufacturing data packages.
- Identify technical risks and issues and work collaboratively with the engineering and project teams to develop solutions.
Skills and Experience Required
- Robust experience in the design, troubleshooting, and integration of electrical and electronic systems, including PCBA-level electronics.
- Knowledge of analog and digital circuit fundamentals, microprocessors/SoCs, power supplies, and power-management systems.
- Familiarity with display technologies and high-speed interfaces such as LVDS, HDMI, eDP, and MIPI.
- Familiarity with mechanical and industrial design considerations for complex electromechanical products.
- Understanding thermal management and heat dissipation in electronic products.
- Familiarity with product certification and compliance standards such as UL/CSA, FCC, CE, and EMC/EMI.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers, suppliers, or external design and development partners is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly understand requirements, evaluate options, and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while managing multiple priorities and maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills, including specifications, test plans, drawings, and block diagrams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
- 3–7 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in consumer electronics, commercial displays, connected devices, digital signage, or related electromechanical products.
- Experience supporting products through design, prototyping, validation, certification, and manufacturing.
- Experience working with engineering and manufacturing partners in North America and internationally is an asset. Experience with color calibration for LCD panels would be an also be an asset.
