The Opportunity:

Our client, a leading organization within the forestry and natural resources sector, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their team in Truro, Nova Scotia. This is an exciting opportunity for an established operational leader to oversee large-scale forestry activities while driving production performance, cost efficiency, safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Reporting into senior leadership, you will provide direction to operational supervisors and work closely with contractors and cross-functional teams to ensure production and business objectives are achieved. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who understands forestry operations and enjoys developing teams, improving performance, and identifying innovative ways to optimize resources and equipment.

What You'll Be Doing:

- Provide leadership and direction to operational supervisors, ensuring production targets, cost objectives, and overall business goals are consistently achieved.
- Forecast production requirements and inventory levels, proactively identifying gaps and implementing corrective actions.
- Oversee day-to-day forestry operations while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, productivity, and environmental performance.
- Drive operational efficiency by optimizing the performance and utilization of contractors, company equipment, and other resources.
- Establish, monitor, and evaluate key performance indicators to measure operational results and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess operational performance and provide hands-on leadership and support to supervisors and field teams.
- Partner with internal departments and key stakeholders to coordinate activities and resolve cross-functional operational challenges.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to enhance productivity and operational effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements,



environmental standards, safety practices, and organizational policies.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with contractors and other external partners to support successful operational delivery.
- Remain current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving practices within the forestry sector.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

- Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience within the forestry industry, with a strong understanding of operational management.
- At least 5 years of supervisory or people leadership experience, with demonstrated success leading teams in an operational environment.
- Strong understanding of production planning, resource allocation, inventory management, contractor performance, and cost management.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and responsible resource management.
- Proven ability to establish performance metrics, analyze operational data, identify trends, and translate findings into action.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change and drive continuous improvement across complex operations.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with employees, contractors, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
- Comfortable working in a field-based operational environment and conducting regular site visits.
- Proficiency with technology and software used to support forestry and operational management.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to operational and remote work locations as required.

Compensation Range: $150,000

Pay: Up to $150,000.00 per year
