Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and energetic Cook to join our food service team! You will be responsible for preparing meals, ensuring food safety standards are met, and delivering hospitality and care to our residents and retreatants.

Employment Type: Part-time/Casual

Anticipate an average of 15-20 hours per week, including weekends, evenings, holidays.
No guaranteed weekly hours.
Position will provide planned time-off and call-in coverage for the chef and senior cooks.

Responsibilities

- Be an active, dedicated member of the Food Services team, including Chef, cooks, kitchen staff.
- Prepare and cook meals with a focus on buffet-style service. Food Service can include up to 60 people daily for three meals plus snacks, with accommodations for various food preferences and health concerns.
- Assist in generating menus, food presentation ideas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas.
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Support inventory and stock rotation.
- Support the Head Chef and senior kitchen staff, as needed.
- Deliver service with the care and hospitality that aligns with the Retreat Centre’s mission to be a place of peace, healing, and prayer.

Experience

- Culinary education at an accredited institution.




- Minimum 5 years of cooking experience, especially with buffet-style service.
- Health and Safety Training completed.
- Completed the food handler certificate, and remain committed to following safe food handling protocols.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced workplace.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
