School-Age Childcare Staff Monday–Friday No Evenings or Weekends

Kidscove Childcare is looking for a reliable, energetic person to join our school-age childcare team in Campbell River.

If you enjoy working with kids, like being active and outdoors, and want a consistent Monday–Friday schedule with no evenings or weekends, this could be a great fit.

This is a permanent, part time position working with school-aged children before and after school. We're looking for someone who wants to become a dependable, long-term member of our team.

Schedule

Monday–Friday
7:00–9:00 AM and 2:00–5:30 PM

Approximately 27.5 hours per week during the school year.

This is a split-shift position, leaving the middle of your day free for appointments, errands, school, the gym or other commitments.

Additional daytime hours are available on Pro-D days, school breaks and during our summer program.

Some flexibility with shifts and hours may be available depending on availability and team scheduling.

Pay

ECE: $28/hour total ($22 + $6/hour wage enhancement)
ECEA / EA: $20/hour
Responsible Adult: $19/hour

Wages may be flexible for strong candidates based on qualifications, experience and overall fit.

Don't currently have an ECE, ECEA or Responsible Adult qualification? You may still qualify.

If you have experience working with children and are willing to complete the Responsible Adult requirements, we'd still like to hear from you. The required course is approximately 20 hours and can usually be completed fairly quickly. We can help guide the right candidate through the process.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll help supervise and engage a consistent group of school-aged children in a busy, active program.

Our days can be energetic and loud, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable working in that type of environment while remaining calm, attentive and engaged.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing active supervision at all times, including consistently knowing where children are and what is happening throughout the group
- Supervising a group of approximately 12–15 school-aged children
- Multitasking while maintaining active supervision, including managing activities, responding to children, completing routine tasks and communicating with coworkers without losing awareness of the group
- Leading games, activities and outdoor play
- Staying actively engaged with children rather than supervising from the sidelines

- Working closely with other staff to ensure the entire group is appropriately supervised
- Communicating professionally with parents at drop-off and pickup
- Preparing and cleaning up snacks and activities
- Completing daily cleaning and sanitizing, including tables, program areas, toys and equipment
- Keeping toys, supplies and program spaces clean and organized
- Completing end-of-day cleaning and program reset
- Spending significant time outdoors throughout the year

Active supervision is one of the most significant parts of this position. You need to be able to talk with a child, clean a table, help with an activity or communicate with another staff member while still remaining aware of the children and what is happening around you.

Cleaning is also a regular part of the position. Our staff are responsible for the routine cleaning, sanitizing and toy cleaning required to keep our childcare space clean, safe and organized.

What We're Looking For

Reliability is extremely important to us.

We're looking for someone who can consistently show up on time, be fully engaged during their shift and be counted on by their team.

You'll be a strong fit if you are:

- Dependable and punctual
- Able to reliably commit to the Monday–Friday split-shift schedule
- Able to multitask without compromising supervision
- Comfortable working in a busy, active and sometimes loud environment
- Able to remain calm and attentive when several things are happening at once
- Comfortable with cleaning and understands that maintaining the childcare space is part of everyone's job
- Positive, friendly and confident with children
- Active and comfortable spending significant time outdoors in all seasons
- Able to take initiative and notice what needs to be done without constantly being directed
- Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team
- Attentive, safety-focused and aware of your surroundings
- Interested in a stable, long-term position

Experience working with children in childcare, schools, recreation programs, camps, coaching or similar environments is an asset.

This position is best suited to someone who genuinely enjoys the energy of working with groups of children and can comfortably move between supervising, playing, cleaning, organizing and responding to children's needs throughout their shift.
