Overview

Scovan is seeking motivated and skilled Industrial Insulators (Journeymen/women) to join our team for a camp-based project near Fort McMurray, Alberta, starting September 8, 2026.

Industrial Insulators are responsible for applying, removing, and repairing thermal insulation systems on industrial equipment, including piping, heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels. This position offers opportunities for overtime, hands-on experience on industrial projects, and continued career development with Scovan.

Project Details

- Shift: 10-hour shifts
- Rotation: 14 days on / 7 days off or 21 days on / 7 days off
- Start Date: September 8, 2026
- Location: Near Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Accommodations: Camp provided

Duties

- Install, remove, repair, and maintain insulation systems on industrial piping, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, and other equipment
- Work with insulation materials including Mineral Wool, Pyrogel, fiberglass, foam, and other industrial insulation products
- Interpret mechanical drawings, ISO drawings, P&IDs;, specifications, and construction documents
- Layout, fabricate, and install insulation coverings for piping and equipment, including reducers, transitions, elbows, fittings, and removable box coverings
- Identify and install pre-insulated panels, removable soft covers, fireproofing, and fire-stopping systems as required
- Use appropriate hand tools and trade-related equipment safely and effectively




- Inspect completed work to ensure installations meet project specifications and quality requirements
- Mentor and provide guidance to apprentices and less-experienced team members
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment
- Follow all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and site-specific safety requirements
- Select, use, and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Demonstrate leadership in housekeeping, PPE use, and safe work practices
- Promote a strong safety culture by looking out for yourself and your team
- Collaborate effectively with supervisors, tradespeople, and other project personnel to support safe and timely project execution

Requirements

- Journeyman/woman Certificate in an applicable industrial trade or 5,500+ documented trade hours
- Previous industrial insulation experience
- Strong experience working with Mineral Wool and Pyrogel insulation materials
- Experience insulating piping, vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and other static industrial equipment is considered an asset
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, ISO drawings, P&IDs;, mechanical drawings, and project specifications
- Strong understanding of industrial insulation systems, materials, fabrication, and installation techniques
- Ability to safely use trade-related hand tools and equipment
- Strong problem-solving, organization,



and time-management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands in a fast-paced project environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work safely and effectively with minimal supervision
- Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces as required
- Ability to lift and safely handle loads of up to 50 lbs.

Candidates must possess valid:

- CSTS 2020
- WHMIS 2015
- Fall Protection
- H2S Alive
- Additional site-required safety certifications, including First Aid, may be required
- Candidates must be able to successfully complete a Drug & Alcohol test

Workers must also provide their own basic trade-related hand tools and CSA-approved steel-toed work boots. Additional specialized PPE may be provided as required by the project.

Compensation

Scovan offers competitive compensation based on experience, qualifications, and applicable project requirements.
