About the Role

Global Pet Foods Ajax South is looking for a motivated, organized and customer-focused Merchandising Lead to join our team.

The Merchandising Lead plays an important role in creating a welcoming, well-maintained and easy-to-shop store while delivering exceptional customer service. This is a hands-on retail position that combines customer service, merchandising and day-to-day operational responsibilities.

You will work closely with the Store Manager and Inventory Lead to support store operations, maintain merchandising standards and ensure our promotional plans are executed effectively.

What You'll Do:

Customer Service & Sales

- Provide friendly, knowledgeable and attentive service to every customer.
- Greet customers and actively offer assistance throughout their visit.
- Ask questions to understand each customer's needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
- Develop strong knowledge of our pet foods, treats, supplements, toys and other products.
- Help customers understand product features and benefits while providing thoughtful recommendations.
- Build relationships with regular customers and contribute to a welcoming neighbourhood-store experience.
- Process transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with customer concerns and involve the Store Manager when additional support is required.
- Answer phone inquiries professionally and assist customers with product availability and general questions.
- Support store sales goals through excellent service, product knowledge and appropriate recommendations.

Merchandising & Promotional Execution

- Take ownership of maintaining attractive, organized and shoppable displays throughout the store.
- Stay up to date on current and upcoming promotional plans.
- Execute promotional changes accurately and on time, including signage, displays and featured products.




- Regularly update end caps, displays and promotional areas to maintain seasonality, freshness and customer interest.
- Ensure promotional signage and pricing are current, accurate and professionally presented.
- Identify displays or areas of the store that need refreshing and make improvements within established merchandising direction.
- Maintain strong product presentation, including facing, organization and shelf standards.
- Support seasonal transitions and new product launches.
- Ensure merchandising does not interfere with safe, accessible customer pathways.
- Communicate merchandising opportunities, missing materials or concerns to the Store Manager.

Store Operations & Team Support

- Work collaboratively with the Store Manager and Inventory Lead to support the overall operation of the store.
- Support the Inventory Lead with receiving, stocking and maintaining organized product areas as required.
- Help ensure new inventory reaches the sales floor promptly and is merchandised appropriately.
- Communicate low-stock, out-of-stock or merchandising concerns to the appropriate team member.
- Support opening and closing responsibilities as scheduled.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe store environment, including the sales floor, cash area and backroom.
- Complete assigned daily and weekly operational tasks.
- Follow all store policies, procedures, cash-handling requirements and health and safety standards.
- Help create a positive, respectful and team-oriented working environment.
- Provide support and direction to team members within the scope of the Merchandising Lead role.





What We're Looking For

- Previous retail experience; pet specialty or merchandising experience is an asset.
- Strong customer service skills and a genuine interest in helping people and their pets.
- An eye for detail and an understanding of what makes a retail space attractive and easy to shop.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to balance merchandising projects with customers and daily store priorities.
- Comfortable taking initiative while also following established promotional and merchandising direction.
- Reliable, accountable and able to work effectively as part of a leadership team.
- Comfortable learning about pet nutrition, products and current promotions.
- Able to perform the physical requirements of a retail environment, including standing for extended periods and safely lifting and moving products.

Availability

Candidates must have flexible availability and be available to work days, evenings and weekends as needed based on the needs of the business.

You will work alongside the Store Manager and Inventory Lead to ensure Ajax South consistently delivers the level of service and store experience our customers expect from Global Pet Foods.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
