Excavator Operator – Residential & Civil Construction

Christensen Excavating is a growing excavation company based in the Lower Mainland, specializing in residential excavation, civil construction, utility work, and site development.

We are looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate is a skilled operator who takes pride in their work, works safely, and is comfortable operating equipment in both residential and civil construction environments.

What We Do

Our work is varied, with projects throughout Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and the Lower Mainland.

Residential work includes:

- House demolitions
- Excavating residential lots for new foundations
- Bulk excavation and site preparation
- Excavating for new and existing utilities
- Water, storm, and sewer service installations
- Tight-access excavation around existing homes and services
- General grading and backfilling

Civil and utility work includes:

- Installation of new storm and sewer mains
- Creek repairs and restoration
- Civil excavation and site work
- BC Hydro service installations
- Telus service installations
- Installation of utility boxes, conduits, and services
- Working around existing underground utilities

Responsibilities

- Safely and efficiently operate excavators and other heavy equipment
- Perform detailed excavation, trenching, grading, and backfilling
- Work around existing utilities and structures
- Read and follow site plans and grade requirements
- Assist with general site duties when required




- Complete daily equipment inspections and report any issues
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all company and WorkSafeBC safety procedures
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, labourers, truck drivers, and other trades on site

Qualifications

- Previous experience operating excavators in residential and/or civil construction
- Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, grading, and utility installation
- Experience working around underground utilities is an asset
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in tight residential spaces
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
- Valid driver’s licence
- Reliable transportation to job sites
- Strong work ethic and valuable attitude
- Safety-conscious and dependable

Experience with GPS machine control, utility excavation, civil construction, or residential foundation excavation is an asset.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 7:30-4pm full-time

Occasional overtime may be required depending on the project.

Location

Projects are primarily located throughout Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and the Lower Mainland.

Pay: $30.00-$50.00 per hour
