Position summary

The skilled handyman performs a broad range of preventative, corrective, and project-based maintenance tasks across a licensed cannabis cultivation facility. This role is critical to maintaining the environmental conditions, safety, and code compliance required for uninterrupted canopy production. The ideal candidate is mechanically versatile, detail-oriented, and comfortable working within a highly regulated environment where hygiene and security protocols are strictly enforced.

Key responsibilities

- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on HVAC, dehumidification, and CO₂ enrichment systems to maintain precise temperature, humidity, and VPD targets in all grow rooms
- Maintain and repair irrigation and fertigation systems including drip lines, reservoirs, pumps, valves and solenoids.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including lighting (HPS, CMH, LED), circuit breakers, and outlets in coordination with licensed electricians where required
- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures including supply lines, drains, RO systems, and floor drains within cultivation, processing, and utility areas
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance walkthroughs and log findings in the facility CMMS or maintenance log
- Repair or replace doors, hardware, caulking, and weatherstripping to maintain food-grade and pest-exclusion standards
- Support build-out and reconfiguration of grow rooms, canopy expansions, or infrastructure upgrades under the direction of the facilities manager
- Operate and maintain facility security infrastructure (door locks, access control hardware)



while complying with all regulatory traceability and seed-to-sale requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop; manage tool inventory, PPE supply, and consumable parts stock
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and contractors; escort non-badged personnel through secure areas per state compliance protocols
- Respond to after-hours or emergency maintenance calls as required; participate in an on-call rotation

Required Qualifications

- 3+ years of hands-on maintenance or handyman experience in a commercial or industrial setting
- Demonstrated proficiency in trade such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or controls.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Health Canada Security Clearance
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working around cannabis plants, plant material, and related odors

Preferred qualifications

- Prior experience in cannabis, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or controlled-environment agriculture
- Red Seal Trade Certificate in Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A, Industrial Electrician 442, HVAC Technician or HVAC/R an asset.
- Working knowledge of horticultural lighting systems and grow room environmental controls
- Familiarity with fertigation equipment
- Experience with CMMS software (Fiix)

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
