Position Summary The Company we are working with is a manufacturer and global supplier of products for the laboratory instrumentation market. The company is seeking a highly organized Accounting Technician for an 1 8 month contract for a parental leave cover . The candidate will exhibit excellent technical, oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated capability to work independently.

A strong understanding of accounting procedures and hands-on experience is an asset.

This position has a combination of in-office and remote work days.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare and process corporate journal entries accurately and within established timelines. Support month-end close activities, including preparation of supporting schedules and reconciliations. Support corporate financial reporting through report preparation, account analysis and variance analysis. Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies and assist with resolution of reconciling items.

Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and treasury activities as required. Assist with the preparation and filing of sales tax returns and related reconciliations. Prepare supporting documentation and respond to audit queries as directed.

Support finance systems, data validation and data cleansing activities. Assist with maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting documentation. Identify discrepancies, process issues and opportunities for improvement and escalate as appropriate.

Other duties as assigned.

Background and Experience Sought: 1 to 3 years of general accounting experience.



Understanding of accounting concepts and principles, including debits and credits, journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations.

Experience supporting month-end close activities. Solid attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines and priorities.

Strong

Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, PivotTables and working with large data sets.

Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks or a similar accounting or ERP system. Ability to investigate discrepancies, analyze financial information and communicate findings clearly. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice to Have

Experience supporting financial or external audits. Experience with accounting system implementations or conversions. Experience with data analytics and reporting tools. Exposure to Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX and M Code. Experience with process documentation, data cleansing or finance process improvement.

Education

Diploma or degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline.
