Role Description The Accounting Technician is a full-time, in office role based in Cold Lake, AB. This team member supports the delivery of accounting services by preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with the preparation of financial statements.
Day-to-day responsibilities include bookkeeping tasks such as recording journal entries, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with payroll entries as needed. The role also involves using accounting software to generate reports,
support month-end and year-end procedures, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and firm policies.
The Accounting
Technician collaborates closely with accountants and other team members, responding to client inquiries and contributing to a responsive, service-oriented work environment.
Qualifications
- Strong bookkeeping skills, including transaction processing, reconciliations, and accurate record maintenance.
- Ability to work with financial statements and support their preparation and review.
- Proficiency with accounting software and related tools, with the capacity to learn new systems efficiently.
- Solid analytical skills and a foundational understanding of finance for interpreting figures and identifying variances.
- Relevant post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a professional services environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a client-service mindset and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Experience in public practice accounting or tax preparation is an asset; familiarity with multiple languages is considered beneficial.
