Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Housing Services, the Administrative and Communications Coordinator provides administrative coordination and digital platform stewardship within Housing and Residence Life Services.
The role supports day-to-day housing operations while maintaining web and social platforms, developing standardized templates, and coordinating student-facing information to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and timeliness. This position emphasizes operational coordination, content stewardship, and procedural application.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of the University’s culture and institutional goals and objectives is highly desired.
- Knowledge of university procedures and deadlines as they relate to student housing.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills for student-facing information.
- Ability to create and post social media.
- Ability to create and maintain web content in WordPress.
- Excellent knowledge and expertise with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Experience effectively handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and enterprise student and housing systems. Strong technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities within established timelines.
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Knowledge of cultural competencies, particularly with respect to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Completion of a four-year honours university degree in Communications, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in the areas of administration and communications, preferably in a post-secondary environment. This would include experience maintaining websites using a content management systems, as well as experience in developing, recommending, and implementing digital content strategy and schedules. Demonstrated experience in creating content and monitoring web-based communications, and in coordinating organizational social media platforms.
