About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic team in Toronto, Canada. In this role, you will take ownership of the technical design, architecture, and development of our cross-platform application systems. You will work closely with a talented mobile development team throughout the entire software development lifecycle, contributing your expertise to build innovative, scalable, and reliable mobile applications.

Your role will involve improving software engineering practices within an agile environment, designing and developing technical solutions across a full stack of tools and technologies, and mentoring junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of mobile banking experiences for millions of users, leveraging your deep technical knowledge and leadership skills.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess at least six years of hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin.



You should have a strong background in application and data design, architecture, and development. Proficiency with modern Android development tools and frameworks such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, Jetpack Compose, and Jenkins is essential.

Additionally, experience providing mentorship to junior and intermediate developers, guiding technical and business stakeholders, and working within an agile environment is highly valued. A bachelor's, master's, or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required. Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and familiarity with microservices architecture and open-source technologies will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

- Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems to ensure high quality, scalability, and performance.
- Collaborate effectively within a dynamic mobile team, participating throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from planning to deployment and maintenance.
- Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using a variety of development tools and technologies.
- Provide subject matter expertise on how emerging technologies influence the domain, ensuring our solutions remain innovative and competitive.




- Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
