About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic team in Toronto, Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and architecture of cross-platform, multi-functional mobile applications that enhance our customer experience. You will work closely with a talented team of developers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable, and innovative Android applications.

This position requires a hands-on approach with advanced technical expertise, as well as the ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to technical decision-making processes. As part of our agile development environment, you will participate throughout the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring best practices are followed and technical solutions align with business objectives.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in native Android application development using Java and Kotlin.



You should have extensive experience with application and data architecture, design, and development. Proficiency with modern development tools and frameworks such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, Jenkins, and Jetpack Compose is essential.

Additionally, you should have demonstrated experience mentoring junior and intermediate developers, providing guidance on technical solutions, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. A bachelor's, master's, or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required. Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and familiarity with agile methodologies will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

- Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems to ensure scalability, performance, and security.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate actively throughout the software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, and support technical solutions using a full stack of development tools and technologies.




- Stay abreast of evolving technological trends and incorporate relevant innovations into application design and development.
- Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Ensure code quality and maintainability through code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to best practices.
