Staircase Studios AI is looking for an Animation Artist to support film, television, commercial, and pitch-related projects. This role is for an artist with a real animation background — someone who understands story, staging, movement, and cinematic composition, and who is comfortable working in a modern, AI-assisted pipeline.

We care most about your animation background. If you have spent time in animation — story, layout, character work, visual development, or a related discipline — and you have a strong eye for composition, style, character consistency, and storytelling, we want to hear from you. Our pipeline is AI-assisted, but the specific software is secondary; we will get you up to speed on whatever we are using.

This is a remote contract role based in Canada. We need someone who can communicate clearly, take feedback well, hit deadlines, and manage work across multiple active projects.

Compensation is $60,000–$90,000 CAD, depending on experience.

What You'll Do

- Create images, videos, visual development, pitch materials, and production assets.
- Translate scripts, briefs, references, and creative direction into strong visual outputs.
- Iterate quickly based on feedback from creative leads, producers, clients, and stakeholders.
- Support multiple projects at once while staying organized and deadline-focused.
- Help develop characters, locations,



props, moods, styles, and shot concepts.
- Maintain visual consistency across projects, scenes, and characters.
- Collaborate remotely with creative, production, design, and editorial teams.

What We're Looking For
- An animation background — studio, freelance, or equivalent independent experience.
- A strong understanding of composition, staging, movement, lighting, mood, style, and cinematic storytelling.
- Work samples that show your eye and your craft. We care more about how you think than about how long the reel is.
- Comfort working in an AI-assisted pipeline and an openness to picking up new tools as they change.
- Ability to take direction and apply feedback quickly.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once without losing track of details.
- Robust communication skills in a remote work environment.
- Deadline-driven, organized, and comfortable working independently.

Nice to Have
- Experience in film, television, advertising, animation, visual development, or branded content.
- Experience creating consistent characters, locations, props, or shot sequences across a project.
- Experience working from scripts, shot lists, moodboards, or creative briefs.
- Ability to do light editing, compositing, cleanup, or image finishing.
