The Cook Chill Food Production
Center is located on the grounds of the Maplehurst Correctional Facility; however, Cook Chill operates as an independent production facility and is separate from Maplehurst Corrections. There are no inmates on site at any time. We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Appliance Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of commercial kitchen and food production equipment in a highly regulated workplace.
Reporting to the Facilities/Maintenance Manager, this role is based in Milton, Ontario and plays a key part in ensuring equipment reliability and operational efficiency while maintaining strict compliance with food safety and regulatory standards such as CFIA, HACCP, and OHSA. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with facilities and production teams to minimize downtime and maintain high service standards. Install, align, and commission commercial kitchen equipment and related systems Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on kitchen and facility equipment Conduct routine inspections and adjustments to ensure optimal performance Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues Partner with facilities and production teams to resolve issues and reduce downtime Maintain compliance with OHSA, food safety standards, and internal policies Complete work orders, maintenance logs,
and inspection reports Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals Utilize CMMS systems for maintenance tracking and reporting Support additional maintenance-related tasks as assigned High school diploma or equivalent ~3–5 years of maintenance experience in commercial kitchen, food production, or industrial environments ~ Experience working with commercial kitchen or food production equipment considered an asset ~ Basic electrical and/or automation/PLC knowledge is an asset ~ Welding and fabrication experience (CWB certification an asset) ~ Forklift, scissor lift, or overhead crane certifications considered an asset ~ Comfortable working in a secure and regulated facility ~ Successful completion of, vulnerable sector check, criminal record check, and any other required security clearances. ~ Food safety certification (or ability to obtain) ~ Comprehensive benefits package, which includes dental, vision, life insurance, and extended health coverage Health or Personal Spending Account Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) We are dedicated to employment equity and continuously strive to enhance our diversity and inclusion practices, fostering a respectful and collaborative workforce.
