The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Care, the Assistant Director of Care plays an important role in the clinical leadership of the home and the delivery of safe, high-quality and compassionate resident care.

You will provide leadership and oversight to assigned clinical programs, support nursing and care teams, contribute to quality improvement and regulatory compliance, and work closely with residents and families to continuously improve their experience.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who wants to make an impact while continuing to develop their career in long-term care leadership.

What You'll Do

- Provide leadership and oversight for assigned clinical programs, ensuring they meet legislative, professional and organizational standards.

- Work closely with the Director of Care and interdisciplinary leadership team to optimize resident care and clinical outcomes.

- Support nursing and care staff through coaching, mentorship, education and ongoing professional development.

- Identify clinical risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Director of Care and other organizational partners.

- Monitor regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements and support investigations and action planning when required.





- Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on resident safety, clinical outcomes and resident satisfaction.

- Build positive relationships with residents and families and respond to feedback, concerns and suggestions with professionalism and empathy.

- Collaborate with physicians, community healthcare partners, vendors and other stakeholders to support resident care.

- Identify opportunities to strengthen clinical practice, team performance and the overall resident experience.

- Promote a positive and accountable team culture where employees feel supported, engaged and encouraged to grow.

What You Bring

- Current and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse, with the ability to obtain registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).

- Minimum 3 years of experience working as registered nursing staff in long-term care.

- Minimum 1 year of managerial or supervisory experience in a healthcare environment, with 3 years preferred.

- Bachelor of Nursing preferred; post-secondary Nursing Diploma will also be considered.

- Current CPR certification.

- Strong clinical assessment and nursing skills.

- Demonstrated leadership, communication and relationship-building abilities.

- Experience supporting or leading quality improvement initiatives and achieving positive resident outcomes.

- Strong team-building, organization and time-management skills.

- Experience with electronic health records; PointClickCare and Point of Care experience are considered strong assets.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

- Experience working within a unionized healthcare environment and collective agreement is an asset.

- Additional language skills are considered an asset.
