Associate Director, Valuations - SLC Management
What is in it for you
The Associate Director, Valuations is responsible for end-to-end valuation delivery and operational enablement across asset classes, with a focus on valuation platforms, vendor-provided pricing, execution stability, and issue resolution. This hands-on leadership role ensures accurate, timely, and consistent valuation outputs for Finance, Risk,
and external clients while driving scalable processes and maintaining a strong control environment. The Director will collaborate with senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners to resolve complex operational challenges and enable valuation teams to perform effectively at scale.
What you will do
- Oversee daily and month-end valuation delivery across asset classes, with accountability for accuracy, timeliness, and operational stability.
- Serve as a hands-on execution backstop for Asset Class Leads during periods of elevated risk, complexity, capacity constraint, or system instability.
- Review and challenge valuation outputs for high-risk, high-visibility, or complex items before release.
- Own valuation platforms, workflows, and vendor-pricing integrations supporting fixed income, exchange-traded products, and complex instruments.
- Lead the implementation, testing, and stabilization of new valuation capabilities, products, and system enhancements in partnership with Technology and external providers.
- Drive remediation of recurring system issues, pricing-feed failures, and process breakdowns affecting valuation delivery.
- Act as the primary escalation point for cross-asset, cross-system, and other complex valuation issues.
- Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of pricing challenges, stale or missing prices, and unexpected valuation movements.
- Design and oversee daily operational controls that proactively identify and mitigate valuation risk.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements that reduce manual effort and improve scalability.
- Manage and develop team members through execution support, mentoring, and technical guidance.
- Communicate valuation and operational issues clearly to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Partner with Valuation Governance, Finance, Risk, and Audit by providing operational analysis, audit support, and comprehensive documentation.
What you need to succeed
- 5+ years of experience in securities valuation, valuation operations, or a closely related financial-services role.
- Demonstrated experience owning processes, platforms, and operational delivery.
- Experience working with third-party valuation providers, valuation systems, and cross-functional business partners.
- Demonstrated ability to manage change, resolve complex operational issues, and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Leadership experience, including managing, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to team members.
Preferred skills
- Strong knowledge of fixed income and third-party valuation vendor ecosystems.
- Experience with valuation and market-data platforms, including Aladdin/BlackRock, Bloomberg, and vendor pricing feeds.
- Advanced Excel and analytical tooling skills.
- Strong business judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Proven change-management skills and the ability to lead through complexity and tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, execution-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced workplace.
